Welcome to Auto Speed Engineering, Inc (ASE)
I just wanted to take a minute to reintroduce myself. I know that most of you guys know just the internet persona of Ol Boy........So I thought it best to introduce the real me. Let me start by saying that most everything that you have ever read about Ol Boy was probably BS, LOL. My real name is Dan Hardin. I am the owner and principle mechanic of ASE. I have been in the automotive industry for the last twenty years. During that time, I have been a Mechanical and Quality Engineer as well as Quality Manager for multiple tier one companies. I have a BSME from UL as well as I am a graduate on Naval Nuclear Power School. I was also certified ASE master tech 15 years ago. I have loved cars and speed since I before could walk so a couple years ago when I had the opportunity I opened ASE.
Since it's inception, I have been predominately rebuilding cars and selling them for profit. Since the market has slowed way down, I have been doing some specialty work for people. I am currently working on a full restoration of a Datsun 1974 260Z that had been off the road since 89. The owner had it stashed away till he could do it the way he wanted. There will be a project thread on it very soon to show all the juicy details. I have also built the 55 for myself from the wheels up, full body off restoration, and of course she will get her own thread too very soon. These are just two examples of the tons of cars I have worked on. I can and have done everything from motor swaps to nitrous kits.. ...I also have experience with German cars as well such as MB, BMW and VW.
If you need anything done, I will always honestly tell you where is the best place to have it done whether I work on it or not. I treat everyone's stuff just like it's my own, and I am the pickiest guy in the world with my toys!!!!!!!! Please don't pay someone three times what it should have cost. Call us to discuss...502-275-9785. Thanks Dan.

I finally finished my degree in 96, i went 3 semesters at speed school then joined the navys nuclear power program then went back to speed when I got out. My transcript is crazy. I took courses while I was in the Navy everywhere from Tulane to William and Mary, LOL.

I hear ya. I graduated in '89 with a BSIE. Debating on whether to go back. Would rather find something automotive. I find that is when I am at my happiness.

I decided not to put the car in the show this year. I want to make a few changes to it before I put it in again. Hopefully next year I can. Last year was a blast.
Here is the picture from last year PhotoSports USA

with my setup now i have way too much hp, too much trq (ok here comes the jokes), i have a 8 point chrome moly now and had a new converter made and it builds boost fast and nice on the brake now so no spray this year, do you do just car restore/builds or can you do or recommend a place that can throw a narrowed rearend with a minitub, i have independent susp and no adjustability, that and i am thinking i will snap a few axles if i boost launch too high, i can do all the sheet metal work and such i just dont have the tig welder and bender to do it myself. i get out of the military and out of my army technition job in a few months and want to get into chassis work. before you all ask, i am having blevins tune it this year, tired of a shitty tune blowing shit up. ok on with the stupid comments thunder

I agree with you completely. You are making way too HP for the IRS to be effective. I would highly recommend putting a fabbed 9 inch rear end in the car. With the amount of HP/Tq that you are making, the IRS is not going to live very much longer. The only reason that it hasn't broken yet is probably because it spins so easily. We can easily build you a 9 inch that will be bullet proof for your application. There are tons of 9 inch's living with more than 2000 hp with no problems. As far as putting it under your car, that shouldn't be any problem either. I would just want to see under your car to see if I would recommend a Ladder bar/coil over setup like I did under my RX 7 or a 4 link set up. If you want get into the more specific details, feel free to give me a holla and I can put some more info & prices together so you can know what kind of money you are looking at.

I think there is going to be a bunch of us going to US 60 next weekend. Bring your car down I would love to check it out up close. Should be a good time, the just redid the burnout box and starting line so it should hook well.

Actually sounds like you're making an effort here to go in the right direction. I don't clutter up the vendor section with crap. Good Luck with your car this year.

with it raining and being crappy all week it will be hard to get it done and to the tuner, i am trying, if i cant make that one then i will the next weekend, i still have to learn the eboost2 more and get it setup for launch boost and then actual boost once i let go of the transbrake. i need around 14psi at brake and 30ish at speed, with the new setup and turbo that will 650ish at launch and 1000ish at speed, will help with breaking shit at the line. i can get my own 9 inch rear end and help with the whole cutup and install. from the looks of my rear if i rip it all out and cut it up, a mustang setup would fit and just tie into the "frame" and cage. car isnt pretty, all scratched up and not made to look nice anymore so not too worried about the paint and such

Shoot me a call during the day man. I've been out several times and people were wanting a piece of a quick car, but nobody ever answers their phone.
Also need fitting help or a completely different way to run a wire through metal with fluids on the other side.
